It was not a question that companies with logistics will be the first ones among many. Some of the logistics companies have taken it a step further. The Bundesverband Güterkraftverkehr Logistik und Entsorgung (BGL) invited all interested market players - inside and outside the association - to join their action.
Following the collection of the individual claims, data was forwarded to economic experts to evaluate the level of loss caused by the cartel through the 14 years, and have pursued the joint action in or outside court.
In December 2016, a fruit and vegetable trade body also encouraged its members to sign up for damages, while a Baden-Wuerttemberg-based logistics trade body has confirmed in November 2016, that it aimed to reach an out of court settlement with the truck companies.
According to a German court in Stuttgart, in January 2017 it had received six claims varying in size between EUR 6,000 and EUR 3million against members of the cartel.
