The 14 years of operation of the Truck Cartel has affected haulier companies – big and small, as well as other key areas. MAN, DAF, Volvo/Renault, Scania, and Iveco were all involved. Company executives met regularly at Zurich airport to coordinate prices, as well as sales managers.
The investigation as expected went on for years and found more confirming details than the truck makers could have ever thought.
But not all truck makers were surprised by the steps of the European Commission. It has been triggered by MAN who was seeking a rather mild way out of the case as of 2010. MAN has smarted its way out by the application for the leniency program and has been excluded from paying penalty.
